Hello from GOT CANS

WE’VE ONLY JUST BEGUN
Sharing a deep-rooted passion for the environment, Eric and Kathryn came together in 2021 and formed GOT CANS with the hope of contributing to the full recycling cycle of aluminum cans, bottles, juice, all milk and nut milk holders, and glass beverage containers.
Eric has an extensive background in waste management and has conducted in-depth research into the environmental footprint that is left when aluminum cans and plastic bottles are disposed of without thought. It was during an epic journey in 2017 when he walked from Calgary to Squamish (yes, walked!) to start a new life that he saw just how many aluminum cans and plastic bottles were discarded along the road. His vision was born – somehow, in some way, he would do his part in the recycling of these products.
Kathryn is a savvy business woman with over 30 years of experience. She is a designated Human Resources professional and member of the CPHR Association. Her strength and determination in overcoming adversity – surviving both cancer and a serious motorcycle accident on the Sea to Sky highway – has made her a true force of nature and very passionate about the environment in which she works and plays. She, too, is determined to do her part in keeping our ocean and land environments safe from discarded waste and recyclables.
We are very proud of the work we are doing.
Over the past 10 months (January-October 2022), our small but mighty team has recycled 93,467 cans and diverted 24,660 plastic drink containers from our landfill. A portion of all funds generated from our recycling efforts is donated to various local charities.
Giving back to the community is integral to the GOT CANS mission as both Eric and Kathryn have had to access not-for-profit agencies for personal reasons and are committed to supporting Sea to Sky charities.
We’ve GOT a long way to go, but it’s worth it!

With gratitude we humbly acknowledge that GOT CANS is located on and operates within the unceded lands of the Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Úxwumixw (Squamish Nation).
